Will Larson was born and raised in Austin, Texas in a family of
artists. His formal art education began at the San Antonio Art Institute
in 1988. He obtained his degree in Fine Arts from the Kansas City
Art Institute, and later finished his graduate studies in Braunschweig,
Germany.
He has been involved in the arts since early childhood
and has been working in sculpture for 16 years, participating in
a wide range of projects, from public art commissions to custom
art design.
In 1999 he established Willywerks, his own studio art
business, with the purpose of creating art in a wide variety of
media, such as metal, wood, glass, fabric and neon. He views his
artwork from two perspectives. First, as a conceptual pursuit, exploring
the many ways to invite viewers inside the work’s philosophy. Secondly,
as practical and functional, with various applications, such as architectural
focal points, which can be applied in a variety of spaces in office,
commercial, and residential environments. |
